TBD Post

// Austin, United States
"After a while, we sort of came to a crossroads as independents and decided to join forces and create something bigger”
"Ted and Brandon speak about their partnership and growing their business."I’d been working in Austin for about 8 years when we met at a post-meet-up event. We bonded over beer and a friendly discussion of the pitfalls of Final Cut Server. We hit it off immediately, and since we were both freelancers we started working on projects together; more so I helped Ted with motion graphics and color. We continued to collaborate on a handful of projects. Ted would go on set, run DIT and edit and I would handle the color, VFX, and finishing workload."

"After a while, we sort of came to a crossroads as independents and decided to join forces and create something bigger. We decided we would find a space together, and we looked for about 6 months for an office that was the right fit. We eventually found the building we have now, which is around 2400 square feet. We started with 2 online suites and as we’ve grown, have gradually built out 7 suites that incorporate 1 main color suite, 3 mixed-use editorial and color suites, and 3 additional editorial suites." "Most of our work is commercial editorial and finishing though we also have a steady stream of episodic TV work in conjunction with a handful of features and documentaries."

TBD Post is a post-production company based in Austin, Texas. TBD works with agencies, production companies and filmmakers on commercial campaigns, television series, and feature films. Formed in 2012 by Ted Griffis and Brandon Thomas, TBD Post has rapidly gained a reputation for exceptional, high-quality work and is producing campaigns for well-known brands that air nationally and internationally.

"We have clients from all over the U.S. but we are also well supported by local Austin agencies. We’ve collaborated on commercials for brands such as Bottega Venetta, El Jimador Tequila, IBM, Seiko, NHL, Banco Sabadell, Tillamook, New Mexico Department of Tourism, ParentsEmpowered.org, Big Red Soda, Shiner Beer, Heinz, Jarritos, Dell, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Ole Smoky Moonshine."

"TBD has also provided color and finishing for multiple television series including 50+ episodes in the last two years for A&E, Discovery, and TLC. We're also very active with the independent film community and have completed Digital Intermediates for nine feature length narrative and documentary films since opening in 2011. One the films we were very involved with premiered at SXSW this year to great audience acclaim as well as immediately being picked up for distribution. That great experience continues to grow as we see the filmmakers excel, so do we."

"There are so many campaigns we have enjoyed working on and very proud to be apart of. This past fall we were thrilled to announce the launch of a new Myspace ‘Portfolio’ broadcast/web campaign featuring short films with artists Hit-Boy, Ace Da God, Findlay and Amadéus [Leopold]. We facilitated DIT and post-production for the films, I served as lead editor and Brandon as the colorist."

"This was an exciting project for us to be a part of, and these films showcased the incredible talent of these rising stars. We were given a huge amount of creative freedom to create unique and engaging films that highlight each of these artists in a different way." Ted Griffis

"That is essentially how TBD Post started. In my mind, I thought teaming up would make life simpler.  For better or worse, two busy guys forming a company together really meant that we immediately became twice as busy! Over the past two and half years, we’ve seen a lot of growth.  We recently brought on an in-house producer, a visual effects artist, and another editor. We have a steady, if not chaotic stream of commercial editorial and a ton of color work. It’s been a great ride and one that we both still very much enjoy. We look forward to it continuing long into the future." Brandon Thomas
